Not everyone has a wonderful story in his/her life, but the success of every enterprise must have experienced twists and turns!
On October 30th, 2004, Jimei opened a new store, that is, Jimei Furnishings World, which made the guest shocked by its magnificent building and brilliant scenes. Facing the great success, it is difficult to imagine the scene of the start-up stage when Jianguo Wooden Vessel Factory, a small factory with only a few hundreds square meters was opened.
In early 1979, when the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of CPC came out, Mr Zhao Jianguo, chairman of Jimei Furnishings, gave up teaching and established a School-run factory of Beijing No. 40 Middle School. In 1982 he submitted his resignation and established the predecessor of Jimei Furnishings, Jianguo Wooden Vessel Factory. Jimei Furnishings gradually built its own brand encouraged by the opening-up policy. Mr Deng Xiaoping called for reform of enterprises and a bold innovation during his tour to south China in 1992. Just as many private entrepreneurs were worrying about their future, Jimei changed the factory into Wukesong Jimei Furniture City, a market-oriented enterprise.
In December, 2000, because of the conversion of land during Olympics, the total areas 60,000 square meters of Wukesong Jimei Furniture & Building Materials City was torn down without compensation according to Olympics deployment. Despite Jimei suffered a loss of more than 40 million RMB it didn’t claim anything from the government. Instead, it volunteered to clear all dregs on the road. Under the leadership of Zhao Jianguo, all staff and exhibitors worked together against all odds and successfully completed the task in time, which ensured the surrounding safety and national interests.
When the news came that Beijing won the bid of Olympics, Zhao Jianguo and all colleagues wept for joy, and had a toast. In early 2003 when SARS haunted the capital, despite of huge economic losses from the disease, Zhao Jianguo donated 3 million Yuan worth of disaster relief goods to the Red Cross, which was highly spoken by the Municipal Government and the medical department on the forefront. Meanwhile, in order to reduce clients’ losses Jimei reduced half of the rent, which greatly relieved their pressures. Also, as customers were scare during the period of SARS, Jimei renovated the inner hall. In this way, the hall became brighter, warmer and more magnificent, and the grade was enhanced.
Spirit /report came from the Fourth Plenary Sessions of its Sixteenth Central Committee of CPC held in 2004 that we need to perfect socialist market economy by supporting non-public sectors and by encouraging competent enterprises get involved. Greatly encouraged, Chairman Zhao Jianguo cooperated with Shougang Strip Steel Factory, completed the first phase of the project of more than 80,000 m2 within just ten months.
For over 20 years, Jimei members have earned a good reputation and become well-known from almost nothing.
